Our History
Honoring the veterans of the Porterville Community for over 75 years
The first Veterans Homecoming Queen pageant started in 1946, an event to honor our veterans in the aftermath of WWII. Sponsored by the American Legion Post 20 of Porterville, California, the Veterans Homecoming Committee and the Porterville Memorial District.
Our Why
We love and respect our country, we are grateful for our Veterans who have served sacrificially, and want to be involved in our community and interacting with people of all ages. Beginning in 1946, the Veterans have sponsored this annual pageant, giving high school senior girls the opportunity to express their patriotism, give back to their community, and be a role model to those around them. The pageant is a celebration of America and a homage to those who have served in the Armed Forces.
